OOH Talk : We should be helping not sniping




It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this post.  I will keep this short but direct to the point.  We are closing in on a full year since the President declared a quarantine in the country.

With most people staying at home, our industry has been hit severely.  We know the adverse effects of people staying at home to an industry called OUT-OF-HOME media.

If that is not enough, what saddens me is that I have heard a lot of friends in the industry who apart from struggling with their rent for the sites and the shrewd property owners who do not seem to care at all for the plight of billboard suppliers, have to deal with their greatest threat - other suppliers/operators sniping on their sites.

Now I know that we are all respectable and gentlemanly when we come to the table during GMMs, and I'm sure we wouldn't do it ourselves.  But please, I hope we can rein in the sitemen who are talking to owners of existing structures, offering them a "better deal" if the structure is rented out to them.

If we want to earn respect, let's give the necessary respect too.  At a time like this when survival is critical, we should be helping (helping sell sites, networking, etc.), not sniping.

I hope this comes in clearly.
